Day 20: I Can See Clearly Now . . . Jan. 26
No, this is not a close up of the eye of a fly - it is our headlight. Before, they were OPAQUE AND YELLOW. There was so much build up on the plastic you literally could not see the lights!
I got out of the car at Hobby Lobby and a young man, maybe between 16 and 19 came up to me and began telling me about my lights and how it was dangerous to have them in this condition and I may not be able to pass a safety inspection and that he could clean them for me. I listened politely as I unbuckled Iosepa. He offered to clean just a small portion of the light. I told him I didn't think I had any cash on me - I never do - He said the auto mechanic stores charge $32 to clean them, but he was willing to do it for $10. He cleaned a small section, maybe a third of the headlight. It did look a million times better.
Normally, I would have declined his offer, but something inside me told me I needed to try. I unlocked the car door I had just closed, with Iosepa in one arm, searched with the other and found a $10 bill in our change drawer. This in itself was a miracle. We usually only keep coins and a few dollars.
I felt very strongly that if someone is trying to work - you should support them. "Okay," I said and gave him the money. Then he told me that it was $10 for EACH headlight. My jaw almost fell to the yellow line of my parking space. "Entonces, no. No puedo." I can't pay that much. I explained that I don't work and my husband doesn't work very much either. In fact, Dave would probably think it a waste to spend $10 let alone $20 just for the headlights. I apologized. He, obviously wanting to make some profit, agreed to do the job for $10 "porque me cae bien" which means, "you fell well with me" or in other words "I like you as a person."
All in all, I'm sure he was trying to swindle me, but for some reason I sincerely felt I needed to do it. I was in a hurry and instead of staying - I did something even crazier - I handed him the $10 and said, "I trust you to finish." Needless to say, I was a little anxious to get back to the car. When I returned I found that he had done a great job with both headlights.
I'm grateful to be able to interact with complete strangers. I am grateful I trusted my intuition and a person I did not know from Adam was honest enough to come through on his part of the deal. Humanity is a beautiful thing.

Day 19: Barber Shop Jan.25
I asked her to straighten out his trim . . . but she just kept clipping :(
No more a long haired baby - Iosepa is a big kid.
Fortunately, he is cute regardless.
Day 17: Breakfast Fit for Kings Jan. 23
One of the many reasons I love my sweet husband. I slept in. He made waffles from scratch. I added the fresh black berries and hand-whipped whip cream :)
Delicious!
Day 15: Tip a Canoe and Tigger Too! Jan. 21
If you are wondering about the title: Tip a Canoe and Tigger Too! it is a play on words from a historical slogan. You would have to be a history geek to remember . . . or be very old :) I had an incredible History teacher in 7th and 8th grade. I learned and REMEMBER so much. Thanks, Mrs. Counts-Henry!

Day 10 aka: Johann Sebastian Bach Jan. 16
I have only a mental image of this one: Iosepa sitting on the piano bench, playing his heart out on the piano, smiling over his shoulder at grandpa's house on Monday morning :)
This is as close as I could get without stealing anyone's intellectual property :)
Day 9: Black with White Stripes Jan. 15
This is a recreation of the actual event (I left my camera). Me wearing my Zebra vans w/ my black and white dress on Sunday after church at Ana Y. Gonzalez' house eating barbacoa straight off the skull - it was delicious! I even ate the tongue!
Day 1: Following Where Our Feet Lead Jan. 7
Thanks to Mrs. Debra Hawkins via Housewife Eclectic's Challenge, I have decided to accept and have even began a new blog just for the purpose of this. I started a few days late - hence the 360 PhotoProject. While contemplating what I really wanted to focus on . . . I looked down at my fairly new running shoes, donned with the perfectly pink NIKE swoosh and thought about my walking one year old and suddenly it hit me. 360 days of foot steps, foot prints and what have you: Our 2012 Journey.

Day 2 Take a Load off Your Feet Jan. 8
I spent over half an hour HUNTING for the dust pan this morning. I thought I must have gone absolutely mad: Nowhere in the kitchen, not in the living room nor laundry room. It was nowhere to be found in the bedroom, closet, outside? NOWHERE! Finally, Dave convinced me to sit down and eat breakfast when I opened the fridge and found . . . the DUST PAN! Our little bundle of Joy had smuggled it in earlier while I was sweeping.
So, you can imagine how upset I was when the camera was NOWHERE to be found - - especially when I was missing so many picture perfect opportunities . . . I searched ALL DAY, 99.9% sure it was on the couch last night - upset that maybe the baby had dropped it in the trash can or . . . somewhere worse than the fridge (The cover of I'll Love You Forever - With the little boy throwing mommy's watch in the toilet flashed through my mind) Finally, after nearly tearing apart the house we worked so hard to clean this morning . . . I found it! . . . in my purse :(

The picture I was prepared to use - Dave so tired he fell asleep on the bed yesterday afternoon.
Iosepa & Daddy watching BYU basketball tonight.
